Ideation & Planning

Told in three outfits, this collection follows the storyline in Frank Ocean’s unreleased song “American Wedding.”
As the young girl in the song gets swept up in impulsive love, I picture her in a short courthouse wedding dress — something untraditional, maybe even thrifted, that speaks to the spontaneity of the moment. When she moves to college alone, I see her in a look that reflects her youth and growth — playful but unsure, like she’s still figuring out who she is. Finally, as she realizes she’s grown out of this rushed love, the last look becomes free-flowing and confident — a divorce outfit that represents her independence and closure.
This collection also became a study of process. Each garment was designed and prototyped in CLO 3D before going straight to production, testing how digital design translates to real fabric and construction.
